View from the park
The landscape at Kenwood was formerly in monastic then royal ownership, then developed as a gentleman's estate in the 18th century, with further improvements in the late 18th century by landscape designer Humphry Repton. In 1925 Kenwood became a public park and is managed by English Heritage who aim to present Kenwood's landscape as both an historic estate and public park. Today Kenwood is a rare survival of an 18th and 19th century gentleman's estate, and is significant for its ancient woodland and sphagnum bog.
